*SAVE THE DATE: Plant Systems Bootcamp at Illinois State University- July 15-19, 2024
This summer, Illinois State University will once again be offering a bootcamp for high school agriculture teachers. This year the bootcamp will focus on knowledge and skills in areas related to plant systems. This course will be co-taught by our agricultural education and agriscience faculty at ISU and content experts across the state.
The course will be offered on campus on July 15-19, 2024. More information regarding registration for this event will be available later this spring. The course will be entitled: AGR 485.02 Special Topics in Agricultural Education: Plant Systems. This course will cover a wide range of topics related to plant systems including principles of crop and soil science, soil management & fertility, crop production & agronomic practices of the Midwest, precision agriculture, and horticulture. There will also be a focus on preparing CDE teams for the land-use, agronomy, and horticulture contests. Teachers of all experience levels are invited to participate.
Students will receive 3 hours of graduate credit for successful completion of the bootcamp. Current ISU tuition and fees will apply. Grants and fees will cover workshop materials, refreshments, snacks, and lunch each day. If you are not a current ISU graduate student, you may enroll as a visiting/non-degree seeking student at https://illinoisstate.edu/admissions/visiting/. This course is limited to accommodating no more than 25 teachers. Another email will be sent out when registration becomes available for this event.
