Hello District 2 teachers!
As I stop for a few minutes to work from Culver's on my way to visit a new teacher at Lockport High School and then to Donovan to help them start their FFA Alumni, I wanted to let you know that after speaking with Jennifer Waters I have officially accepted the opportunity to serve as the Chicago Area (Section 8) Program Advisor. This new role will begin on July 1. Of course I will still be available to help all District 2 teachers however I can and I will be assisting the new Program Advisor as they learn their new role, but I'm very excited to have the opportunity to dedicate extra time to the recruitment of future Ag teachers from the Chicago area, and to focus on growing the talent pipeline of future Ag employees by growing Ag Education in this very untapped market. I've spent the last 18 years getting to know the city and suburbs and I'm confident that this is a great time to invest in growth in this part of the state.
Jennifer will be posting details about the Sections 6-7-9-10 Program Advisor opening later today.
Life is kind of funny- it was 18 years ago THIS MONTH that I got a call encouraging me to apply for the newly-created Chicago Area Program Advisor position. I applied but didn't get it, and after the interview Mr. Runner called to tell me it was because they wanted me in the Sections 6-7-9-10 role that also came open that spring. So here we are, 18 years later and I'm moving into that role!
Have a great day,
Luke
