New Job Posting: Director of Sustainability in Food & Environmental Systems Program

 

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois is seeking applications for the position of Director of Sustainability in Food & Environmental Systems Program. The successful candidate will direct, teach, and advise in the College of ACES’ Sustainability in Food and Environmental Systems (SFES) program and major. The selected candidate will be responsible for a program of work in and for providing instructional, advising, curricular, administrative, and online degree and certificate development for the SFES major which will address issues unique to feeding the world under an increasingly complex environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent director will:

  • teach an Introduction to Sustainable Food Systems course each semester
    (online, face to face, and dual credit coordination);
  • advise and recruit students to the Sustainability in Food & Environmental Systems (B.S.) major;
  • advise Food and Environmental Systems Minor;
  • develop online and certificate programs related to skill development in food systems; and
  • coordinate a global youth institute on campus for students interested in learning more about food systems.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Candidates must have Bachelor’s degree in the food, agriculture, consumer, or environmental sciences or related discipline.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in teaching, advising, or youth coordination in related fields, and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The outstanding candidate will be self-motivated, possess the ability to multi-task, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment geared toward building high quality programs and instruction in a variety of modalities.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree

SALARY & STARTING DATE

This is a full-time 100%, 12-month Academic Professional appointment. The salary range for this position starts at $65,000. The proposed start is as soon as possible after the closing date.
