  Vacancy ~ Richland County (Olney) High School Ag Teacher/FFA Advisor

Richland County High School, located in Section 23, is seeking a full-time agriculture education teacher and FFA Advisor for the 2024-2025 school year. The newly-hired teacher will work in the Agriculture and T&I department with veteran teachers Mark Steber, Jamie VanDyke, and Hayden Kinkade.

The Richland County Ag Ed Program is a three-circle program that focuses on all three components of agriculture education. (FFA, SAE, and Classroom/Lab) The program has 280 students enrolled in agriculture education courses and all members are in the Olney FFA Chapter. The Olney FFA has had considerable success at the state and national level. The Richland County High School administration, board of education, alumni, and community are very supportive of this program.

Current courses offered are Introduction to Agriculture, Ag Science, Basic Ag Mechanics, Advanced Ag Mechanics, Horticulture Production/Management (Dual Credit), Ag Metal Fabrication (Welding I and Welding II - Dual Credit), Ag Construction I and II, Agriculture Sales& Marketing (Dual Credit), Veterinary Science (Dual Credit), Natural Resources/Conservation, Ag Business Management (Dual Credit/Res. Mgt Credit), Intro to Production Technology, Production Technology, CAD; Drafting (Dual Credit), and Transportation Technology. Courses to be taught will be discussed with the applicants.

The Richland County High School experienced a considerable renovation in 2019-2020. Current facilities include four classrooms, two offices, storage areas, a food lab, a small animal lab, a mechanics/welding shop, a mechanics/wood shop, an automotive shop, and a new greenhouse.

Candidates will be paid based on the collective bargaining agreement, including participation in the Three-Circle Grant. Candidates should have a valid Illinois Teacher License.
