Registration is now live for all Fall 2020 State Contests on ilaged.org:

Click here to view the updated contest calendar for fall events including divisions and pricing, registration deadlines, and contest dates. The IAVAT board will revisit and finalize plans for spring and summer 2021 contests later this semester.

State Forestry, Horse, and Agronomy will all be conducted utilizing JudgingCard E-Scansheets with contest content shared via a Google Drive folder (similar to the process of virtual Poultry and Horticulture earlier this summer). Registration must be completed on ilaged.org to receive access to E-Scansheets and contest materials. The official contests will take place on their respective Saturdays from 10am-2pm with the alternate division opening the following week. Winners of the official division of each contest will be recognized during state convention next summer, however, which teams represent Illinois at the next National FFA contests are still pending further information from National FFA and a formal decision from the Illinois FFA Board of Directors.

State Ag Sales will be conducted virtually via Zoom. There is no registration form for this contest since state participants are limited to the top 3 teams per district (results due 11/7/20). Product information is being coordinated with the contest host site and will be released in the coming weeks.

The Forestry contest will consist of the following practicums for the fall 2020 virtual event:

Tree ID, Equipment ID, Map Reading, Chain Saw Part Identification/Troubleshooting/Safety, Tree/Forest Disorders, Test

The Horse Evaluation contest will follow standing contest rules. Reasons participants will be required to video record their reasons presentations, upload to YouTube, and share a link with judges following the event (similar process to Livestock Reasons over the summer).

The Agronomy contest will follow standing contest rules excluding rings.

All fall contest rules have been updated and are available on ilaged.org/CDE

The 2020 State Land Use contest has been canceled and the State Dairy Foods contest has been postponed indefinitely.

All virtual fall official events will be $10/student and alternate division participants will be $5/student for IAVAT members. A separate flat fee option is also available in which chapters can pay a flat $600 fee to enter an unlimited number of participants (full teams in each official division plus unlimited participants in the alternate division) in the fall invitational events (Forestry, Horse, and Agronomy). Please note that if you register for this flat fee option, you will still need to register the number of participants for each individual contest registration to receive contest materials and scan sheet links, but will do so under a “free” option since you are already paying under the flat fee.

Best Wishes as you embark on your fall semester journeys! We look forward to continuing our work with you to provide high caliber opportunities for our members.
