Description and Duties
Mount Pulaski High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Agricultural Education teacher to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside a seasoned co-teacher, Ralph Allen, before his upcoming retirement, ensuring a smooth transition in a program that is vital to our school and community. Agriculture is at the heart of Mount Pulaski, and our award-winning FFA program plays a crucial role in student success. The selected candidate will serve as the FFA advisor each year, as a term of continued employment, and should be committed to maintaining the program’s excellence. The position includes access to a large classroom, multiple storage spaces, and a newly renovated agriculture and welding shop, providing an outstanding environment for hands-on, career-focused learning. A local FFA plot is also planted and harvested through the supervision of this faculty member with use of school-owned farm implements.
Duties include, but are not limited to, instructing grades 9 through 12 agriculture classes which may include: Introduction to Ag., Basic Ag. Science and Natural Resources, Ag. Business Management, Ag. Mechanics, Ag. Machinery, Crop Science (dual credit), Animal Production (dual credit), Cooperative Work Study Program, or subjects with similar titles. We are seeking a candidate who is highly motivated, exceptional in disposition (caring, compassionate, patient), and extremely dedicated to the academic and social-emotional growth of all students. The district participates in the Three Circles FFA and SAE grant.
Qualifications
A successful candidate must have the proper Illinois teaching license and endorsement(s) for the teaching position. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach dual credit courses (through Lincoln Land Community College) or are willing to obtain the necessary credentials.

Mount Pulaski High School has just completed a construction and renovation project which includes an updated agriculture shop.
Mount Pulaski is located in southern Logan County, 11 miles south of Lincoln, IL, 21 miles northwest of Decatur, IL and 23 miles northeast of Springfield, IL. The 9 - 12th grade enrollment is 175 students with 22 certified staff members, 3 para-professionals, 8 support staff, 1 school counselor, 1 administrator, 1 activities director and 1 half-time nurse. The district is a member of the Tri County Special Education Association and the Illinois High School Association.
Salary/Benefits
The beginning salary for a first-year teacher with a bachelor's degree is $42,386 plus the District covers the member TRS Contribution of 9.8901% compounded. The beginning salary for a first-year teacher with a master’s degree is $44,107. Additional pay is given per year of creditable educational service. The district offers an extra FFA stipend (between $5,094 and $6,270 based on previous creditable experience as an FFA advisor). The district participates in the Three Circles FFA and SAE grant. The board grants sick leave based upon the following schedule: 0-10 years of teaching experience = 20 sick leave days per year, 10+ years of teaching experience = 25 sick leave days per year to accumulate with a cap of 400 total days.
