  New Opening: Pontiac Township HS, 2nd Ag Teacher/FFA Advisor

Pontiac Township High School is seeking an Agriculture teacher beginning the 2025-2026 school year. Chosen candidate will work cooperatively with Mr. Jesse Faber. Pontiac embraces all the components of an agricultural program thus supporting, transporting, managing, and engaging students in FFA and SAE activities at the local, state, and national levels are expected. 

Facilities include classroom/office, shop with lab space, new 30 x 60 Greenhouse with attached 30x30 storage, environmental land lab, and an agronomy land lab. Greenhouse and land lab management and operation shared among Ag/FFA program staff and board approved volunteers. Other duties assigned as needed by administration. 

This is an extended year contract. Our award-winning program boasts a variety of agricultural courses and an active FFA chapter, with strong support from the community, alumni, and administration. 

PTHS offers a wide variety of classes including the following: 

  • Introduction to Agriculture

  • Basic Agriculture Science

  • BSAA

  • Dual Credit Horticulture/Landscaping

  • Ag Business Management

  • Natural Resources

  • Dual Credit Crop Science

  • Dual Credit Animal Science

  • Supervised Agriculture Experience

The courses taught and other assigned supervisions are shared between two Agriculture teachers and assigned in collaboration with administration.

Qualifications

Current and valid professional educator license (PEL) for Agriculture Education OR Career and Technician Education Educator License with Stipulations (ELS). Valid IL driver license. Ability to teach agriculture courses for dual credit and science credit is a plus.

Salary/Benefits

PTHS participates in the Three Circle Grant 

We are very competitive as per collective bargaining agreement. Benefits include: 100% board paid single health/dental insurance and board paid TRS, paid sick and personal leave, tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities.
