Normal Community High School, located in Section 9, is seeking one Agriscience Education teacher for the upcoming school year. Normal Community is one of two high schools in McLean County Unit #5. Since opening full-time in 2014, the program has grown significantly. Normal Community has also consistently earned recognition at the State and National levels including being named a 2019 and 2024 Model of Excellence National Finalist (Top 10 FFA Chapter in the Nation).
The McLean County Unit #5 Agriculture Program offers courses in three career pathways: Agricultural Science, Veterinary and Animal Science, and Agriculture Engineering and Technology. At Normal Community High School, over 300 students have requested to enroll in agriscience classes for the 2025-2026 school year. Normal Community is seeking candidates to specialize in the Agriculture Science Pathway. Roles and qualifications for the position are as follows:
Agricultural Science Educator:
The successful candidate will primarily be teaching courses offered within the Agriculture Science pathway. Potential courses to be taught for the upcoming school year include: Introduction to Agriculture, Biological Science Applications in Agriculture - Plant, Dual Credit Animal Science and Veterinary Science. These are subject to change based on scheduling and staffing needs.
Qualifications:

Candidates must have an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Agriculture Education or Career and Technical Education Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).

Certifications in CASE courses (AFNR, ASP, ASA) are encouraged, but not required in order to apply.

Training for CASE courses will be provided by the school district.

This position would work alongside current agriculture department instructors, Mackenzie Kraft and Larry Lewis.
With this position, McLean County Unit #5 will employ five educators teaching agriculture in the department between the two high schools who work collaboratively as one professional teaching and learning community. McLean County Unit #5 offers a competitive salary/benefits package, including extended contract days beyond the teaching calendar/contract through the Three Circles Grant.
