Flora High School (Section 23), is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Agriculture Education Teacher and FFA Advisor for the 2021-22 school year. The newly hired individual will be replacing Mr. Doug Slagley as he retires after a very successful teaching career. This agriculture program is a two teacher program, therefore the newly hired will work with Mr. Terry Branch.
Facilities include a classroom, shop, livestock facility as well as a greenhouse. Within the program there are currently 178 students taking an agriculture education course including 27 FFA members. Current courses offered, but are able to be adapted due to strengths of the hired individual, include Basic Agricultural Science, Environmental Science and Agricultural Construction & Technology.
Candidates should have a valid Illinois Teacher License. Candidates will be paid based on the collective bargaining agreement. This position also includes an FFA stipend and/or the possibility of the Three Circles Grant.
