John Wood Community College - Cattle Artificial Insemination Class
The John Wood Community College AGR 169 – Cattle Artificial Insemination class will take place March 8-10th 2021 at the Coatsburg Sale Barn, Coatsburg, IL. This course is open to all members of the general public not just current jwcc students. Participants will learn basic classroom training of artificial insemination of cattle. As well as have hands on practice palpating cows. These skills are valuable for a producer in order to increase genetic improvement within your herd, improves breeding records and data acquisition, avoid disease transfer, and allows utilization of progeny tested sires for performance, maternal, calving ease, carcass value.
This year’s course will be taught by STgenetics®. STgenetics® is a worldwide leader in livestock reproduction and other services for cattle, horses, deer and swine. These services include sex sorted semen, embryo production, and beef bull and heifer development. Upon completion of the 3-day course participants will receive certification through the National Association of Animal Breeders.
