Workshop Details
If you are an instructor who is relatively new to teaching small
engine technology, then this is where you’ll want to start! This
3-day course should arm you with enough knowledge and
confidence to conduct your own basic small engine class. The
program is a curriculum that follows lesson plans designed for
high schools and middle schools. We teach the curriculum to
you so you get the benefit of our technique along with on-going
discussion as to what we aim to accomplish with each topic.
You will perform a complete teardown and reassembly of a
horizontal shaft Overhead Valve (OHV) engine. The engine
is a springboard to all the different systems that are required
for a gas engine to operate. In addition, you will receive an
assortment of training materials from PowerPoint presentations,
teardown scripts and more, so that you will be able to teach the
same concepts and procedures in your own classroom.
Participants will receive Small Engine Curriculum, OHV Engine Instructor Reference, and engines donated by Briggs & Stratton. Attendees are responsible for transportation of their engines from Lake Land back to school.
The 2021 Briggs & Stratton small engines workshop will be held July 13th-15th at Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL. This workshop is limited to 20 participants and costs $300 per instructor- payable to IAVAT. To register, teachers must sign into their ilaged.org dashboard, click PD Opportunities (located on the left side menu) and select Briggs & Stratton Small Engine Workshop.
