Illinois FFA Center - “Soft Close”  - Now until January 4, 2021

Due to COVID-19 quarantines and several staff working from home on various days with children who are in full remote learning situations, the Illinois FFA Center will be in “soft close” mode of operation.  The FFA Center will be staffed by two or three people everyday from now until January 4, 2021.  Our goal is to still take your calls, process mail, answer emails and address any questions or concerns you continue to have but the majority of our hours will be serving you from home, therefore EMAIL is the best way to to contact and connect with most of our staff. 1.  Illinois FFA Officer SAE Video - Click here - Check it out TODAY, great video compiled by our major state officers to highlight SAEs.  Hope it is a great addition to covering SAEs with your students! 

2.  Illinois FFA Board Updates from 12/10/2020 Meeting

• The National Chapter Award for 2021 is DUE April 15, 2021.  Be on the lookout for the submission of that will be through AET this year, further details about the submission closer to the due date.  

• The National Chapter Award for 2022 will be DUE April 1, 2022.  

• Illinois FFA American FFA Degree applications are DUE March 1, 2021.  

• Illinois FFA State FFA Degrees are DUE to the Illinois FFA Center via the AET submission process by March 1, 2021.  We will cover this process for submitting them during the Section Chairs meeting on January 9, 2021.  

• A reminder that the State FFA Degree application will automatically select all records from all experiences entered within the AET and add them to your State Degree Application.

• From this point forward, there will be no need to utilize the complete record book report, as it is hyperlinked to the back of the application for record verification and STAR judging purposes.

• The 2021 State FFA Degree will require electronic signatures, no longer needing written signatures.  

• Both rubrics and the scoring process for Section, District and State Proficiency awards process will be covered during the Section Chairs meeting on January 9, 2021.  

• Illinois FFA has replaced 212 this year with “Ground Zero” a similar conference designed for 8th - 10th grade level students.  The major state FFA officers are taking the lead in designing the curriculum and the activities prevalent throughout the conference, while the Section Presidents will take on the roles of group/breakout room leaders.  

• Ground Zero will be offered two different weeks.  You may choose which week works best for the students’ schedules.  Either Tuesday, February 9 - Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. OR Tuesday, February 16 - Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. 

• Ground Zero registration fee is set for $35.00 which will include a t-shirt, learnbook and other learning materials to ensure interactive and engaging activities.  

• If the first two weeks of Ground Zero fill up we will also offer another week of the conference Tuesday, February 23 - Thursday, February 25, 2021.  

• How will District and State Proficiency Awards be conducted in 2021? The Joint Boards will discuss and the FFA Board will decide on Friday, January 8, 2021.  

• What about District and State Parliamentary Procedure? The Joint Boards will discuss and the FFA Board will decide on a later date.  The consensus of the group is to hold out as long as we can to possibly ensure an in person event of some degree.  

• Other questions or concerns?  Please let us know or reach out to your FFA Board representative and discuss with them.
